Draft — under legal review · Updated 19 October 2026
This covers the Lodestar waitlist on this site and, in brief, what the Lodestar app sends to outside AI providers. The app’s full policy is at app.lodestar.ink/privacy.
Who runs Lodestar
Lodestar is run by Argo Academics, Victoria, Australia. [OWNER: confirm the legal entity named here, or name a Lodestar entity.] We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Questions and requests: admin@argoacademics.com.au.
The waitlist
When you join, we keep your email address and the time you joined. Nothing else: no name, no network address, no device details.
The form also has a field people never see. It catches automated sign-ups and is not stored.
We use your address only to write to you about Lodestar: a welcome when you join, a note when it opens, and what changes before then. We do not sell it or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
To stop hearing from us, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email we send, or write to admin@argoacademics.com.au. To have your address removed from the list, write to us and we will remove it.
We keep your address until you ask us to remove it. [OWNER: confirm how long the list is kept after Lodestar opens.]
Where it is kept
The list is kept in a Postgres database run by Supabase in Sydney (ap-southeast-2). The form on this site can add an address but cannot read the list back.
This site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps request logs (network address, page, time) for a limited period under its own terms. Cloudflare answers from a data centre near each visitor, so those logs can be handled outside Australia. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking.
Our emails are sent through an email service. It receives your address and the message, and may process them outside Australia. [OWNER: name the email service (Resend is expected) and where it processes. Nothing on this site sends the waitlist emails yet.]
If you are under 18
Lodestar is made for students, and many of them are under 18. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before you join. If you are under 15, a parent or guardian should join for you. [OWNER: confirm the under-15 line; the form does not check age.]
When a school sets Lodestar for its students, that happens under the school’s own arrangements with its students and families, including consent.
Claude and Gemini, in the app
To do the work you ask of it, the Lodestar app sends some of your writing to two outside AI providers:
- Google (Gemini). Pieces of your texts are turned into numbers so the app can find passages by meaning. By default, when you ask in plain words, your request and the texts it needs are sent to a Gemini model.
- Anthropic (Claude). When you ask in plain words and the stronger model is used, your request and the texts it needs are sent to Claude.
Both are used through their programming interfaces. We do not use your writing to train models, and we have not agreed to let these providers do so. They may process data outside Australia, including in the United States.
If you connect your own Claude app to Lodestar, it reads only what you let it and can only propose; what it reads is also handled under your own agreement with Anthropic.
The waitlist itself is never sent to either provider.
Your rights
